White Boxers
We get alot of questions about white Boxers. Especially: "Is there something 'wrong' with them?" and "Are they registerable?"
We included links at the bottom of this page so you can research this yourself. But, in short: Everything you've heard about them having shorter lives, skin problems, easily sunburned, eye problems ...... isn't true (any more than any other color of Boxer). The One thing that IS true is that some are deaf. About 17%, or about 17 in every 100 white pups is deaf (the same as Dalmations,German Shepard and Great Danes it is the same gene).
We do not breed "flashy" to "flashy" dogs together very often in order to avoid the problem (see Genetics link below). But when we do have white pups, we check their hearing at about 3 weeks old, before offering them for sale.
Deaf puppies are special & we have special criteria for their new homes: they must have a fenced yard and have another dog to "cue" from. The new owners must be motivated to train their pup with hand signals and be realistic that this doesn't "go away" or "get better" ...... the deafness is permanent. This is a very good training link http://www.deafdogs.org/training/signs.php
So, if you like the elegant look of the White Boxer, you have made a wonderful choice, as you are getting all the endearing qualities of the breed in a stunning white package........
and yes, they are fully AKC registerable. They may be shown in AKC classes, other than conformation classes.
